Chief Engineer:
Key Responsibilities
•Leads the MOL process for existing products, including directing resources to conduct a full root cause failure analysis on returns and interface with sales and the QA organization on failure analysis reports to customers. •Leads the design of battery charging circuits for small marine grade chargers, medium and large industrial grade charges. •Leads the design for manufacturing with the capability of working with manufacturing teams that are based around the world and supporting multiple time zones. •Able to work in a team environment and gather information on projects, hold meetings and professionally communicate both orally and in writing with all departments. •Establishes, audits and reviews projects to ensure the results are in line with Strategic Business Unit goals. •Establishes with Operations the most efficient methods of manufacture and assembly within appropriate codes of regulations. •Acutely aware of the IP55 and other marine design requirements for power subsystems contained within both small and large boats. •Able to direct the appropriate application of safety and regulatory certifications. •Works closely with the other functional areas of the Company to complete projects and ensure a smooth transition of the product into production including suggested parameters for testing of production units. •Formulates and estimates design concept, development timetables and anticipated costs for review and approval. •Establishes, coordinates and maintains project programs to meet timetable parameters. •Leads the development concepts and designs, as required. •Expands expertise in state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing methods and innovations in materials through technical journals, seminars, advance degree programs, etc. •Reviews and/or assists in the creation of all engineering documentation necessary for product release. •Stays current in the status of competitive products and evaluates these products for marketing that may affect the Company's competitive position. •Expands knowledge of Company's operations, product applications and tactical actions in areas beyond immediate responsibilities. •Reviews and/or assists in the preparation of instruction sheets, advertising information and repair manuals. Reviews all documents for technical accuracy. •May represent the department in a technical capacity including providing engineering data, serving on committees and review of various items requiring engineering input. •Assists in establishing and/or upgrading internal engineering standards and practices. •All other responsibilities assigned by management.
